The PROMISE SANLink adapter ushers in a new generation of devices that take advantage of 10Gbps Thunderbolt technology recently introduced by Intel. By using Thunderbolt technology enabled systems, SANLink provides dual 4G Fibre Channel connectivity connected to a Thunderbolt port.

The PROMISE SANLink adapter is a groundbreaking, out-of-the-box solution that revolutionizes how users connect to a Fibre Channel SAN. For the first time, portables and desktop systems previously unable to connect to a high-speed Fibre Channel SAN can now do so using Thunderbolt technology.

SANLink provides dual 4Gbps Fibre Channel ports that can be used to connect directly to an external Fibre Channel storage device or to an Xsan or StorNext network using a high-speed Thunderbolt I/O port. Each adapter features full-duplex capable FC ports, that automatically detect connection speed and can each independently operate at 1, 2 or 4Gbps.

PROMISE SANLink is fully compatible with Thunderbolt technology that ships on every new portable and desktop Mac, including the MacBook Pro, iMac and Mac mini providing never before seen flexibility for a SAN configuration in the Mac ecosystem. Qualified for use with Mac OS X, SANLink requires zero software install and simply works out-of-the-box with full hot-plug capability.

Using Thunderbolt technology, SANLink provides the ability to daisy-chain up to 6 high-speed Thunderbolt enabled devices. Dual Thunderbolt I/O ports enables SANLink to daisy up to a total of six Thunderbolt devices including products such as PROMISE Pegasus Thunderbolt RAID storage systems, Apple Thunderbolt Displays and Mini Display port devices.

SANLink and VTrak storage subsystems

SANLink is the perfect companion for any Fibre Channel SAN infrastructure and is fully qualified for use with PROMISE VTrak x10 and x30 series Fibre Channel RAID subsystems and can deliver over 800MB/s worth of data. SANLink complies to the industry-standard Fibre Channel specification allowing connectivity to Fibre Channel enabled devices.

SANLink removes storage bottlenecks for portables and desktops that were unable to connect directly to a Fibre Channel SAN.
