Easy set up and initialization
Setting up the SmartStor DS4600 is quite easy. Install the hard disks into the supplied drive carrier rails, insert the disks into the enclosure and connect the SmartStor DS4600 to your Mac, PC, Server, or Laptop. You don't need to worry about device driver installations or other complex configurations.

• One Touch Configuration: Insert your hard drives in the DS4600, press and hold the One Touch Configuration button on the front of the DS4600 for 3 seconds to automatically create an array. Then format the array using Disk Utility under Mac OS X or Disk Management under Windows and you are finished with setup, ready to store data.

Compatible with Time Machine
Connect SmartStor DS4600 to your Mac for use with Apple's Time machine to backup your critical system files, applications, data files, music, pictures, videos and more.

The SmartStor™ DS4600 is RoHS compliant; in simple terms the SmartStor™ DS4600 is eco-friendly, keeping harmful lead out of the environment and our delicate ecosystems. Consuming a mere 40 watts under full load with four hard drives installed, it uses roughly 13% of the power consumed by the average 300 watt power supply in standard computers.

The Standby feature of the SmartStor™ DS4600 allows hard drives to spin-down during periods of inactivity, thereby reducing power consumption to as little as 15 watts.

Sporting a new enclosure design, a fan-less integrated power supply and a state-of-the-art fan control mechanism, system noise is never an issue making the SmartStor DS4600 idea for desktop, small office environments and any room in the house.

SmartNAVI, the advanced and powerful client utility for SmartStor™ series allows configuration and management directly from your desktop. Smart- NAVI also features a Media Player for playback of music and videos stored. Photo Album is another aspect of SmartNAVI allowing the creation of flash based Photo Albums.
